Pictet Alternative Advisors’ Direct Private Equity team (“Pictet”) has announced the launch of a long-term strategic partnership with TRETOR AG (“Tretor”) aimed at building Switzerland’s leading accounting services group focussed on serving the country’s SMEs.
Bringing together swiss accounting expertise
The Group will support SMEs across Switzerland as a trusted partner in all areas of accounting services – from accounting and tax advisory to auditing and interim CFO services – and will operate based on an entrepreneurial model. The group will actively add further partners who share the values of highest quality, sustainable development, and strong local client relationships
The Swiss accounting sector is highly fragmented and characterised by numerous regional firms with strong entrepreneurial cultures. At the same time, challenges continue to grow in the areas of digitalisation and AI, talent acquisition, compliance, and quality assurance – particularly for small and medium‑sized companies.
The group will help to address these issues by creating a platform to bring together locally rooted accounting services firms while giving them access to centralised resources and state‑of‑the‑art technology, aiming to strengthen the advantages of local and regional accounting services companies. The platform will bundle central functions – such as talent development, digitalisation/artificial intelligence, IT, controlling, and quality management – to reduce costs and provide access to new customers.
This is designed to give the individual partner firms more freedom to focus on their core task: being the local trusted advisor for all accounting, tax, audit and legal issues. Clients, in turn, will benefit from a broader range of services, deeper specialist expertise, greater use of digital tools, and coverage across all of Switzerland.
Nikolaus Hubmann, Head of DACH Direct Private Equity at Pictet Alternative Advisors, said: “The accounting services market is undergoing structural change, creating major challenges but also new opportunities for all stakeholders. Our partnership with Tretor aims to build a leading Swiss accounting services group that combines quality, continuity, and modernisation. We are intentionally investing for the long term and are looking for entrepreneurs who want to shape the future of the accounting services sector with us. The combination of local expertise and central excellence creates the foundation for sustainable growth and strong added value for SMEs throughout Switzerland.”
Adrian Schaller, Managing Partner at Tretor, added: “We experience every day how important we are as a local point of contact for SMEs in all matters related to accounting, tax, audit and legal issues. With Pictet, we have found a partner who shares our conviction that sustainable development is only possible when local entrepreneurial freedom and long‑term thinking are preserved. Together, we aim to build a group that enables us to foster young talent and support our clients even better.”
