In Finland, the country's second largest mutual pension insurer Varma pulled in a record half-year result in its history in th first six months of 2021. The company's portfolio yielded a total return of 10.4 percent, or EUR 5.2bn, and the value of the investments grew to EUR 55bn. Equity investments and hedge funds performed especially well.
Bullish Varma beats main competitor on investment returns
In the second half of the year, investors will keep an eye on whether the rise in inflation will come to a halt as expected. If central banks tighten their monetary policy too quickly, economic growth would be at risk, says Varma's CIO Reima Rytsölä. Varma's exposure to listed equities is at an all-time high.
