Cumulative Fund for Pension Rights: New CEO and new Head of Risk Management

Guðmundur Stefán Steindórsson has taken over as CEO of SL Pension Fund, taking over from Sigurbjörn Sigurbjörnsson, who decided to retire after almost 40 years of service with the fund. Guðmundur has worked at SL Pension Fund since 2016 as Head of Risk Management and has been involved in a variety of projects within the fund. Guðmundur is an engineer from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and had extensive experience working in the financial market before joining SL Pension Fund.

Ragnar Leví Guðmundarson has also been appointed as Head of Risk Management at SL Pension Fund. Ragnar studied actuarial mathematics and has diverse experience in the finance and insurance sectors. He previously worked at VÍS where he handled insurance liability calculations and risk analysis. He has also worked on actuarial calculations for the Retailers’ Pension Fund.

Ragnar’s education includes a BS in Applied Mathematics from the University of Iceland and a MSc in Actuarial Science from the Lisbon School of Economics and Management. He is also completing a PhD in Actuarial Science at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, where he is researching, among other things, the use of machine learning in risk and asset management.

Ragnar has published scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, including on the impact of ESG screening on the diversification of investment portfolios.

“It is a great honor for me to take over as CEO of SL Pension Fund after nine years of work within it. I am taking over a strong estate and am looking forward to continuing the good work that has been done for the benefit of our fund members. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Ragnar Leví to join us, whose experience and knowledge will strengthen the team and the fund’s operations,” says Guðmundur Stefán Steindórsson, CEO of SL Pension Fund.

The Board of Directors of SL Pension Fund would like to thank the outgoing Managing Director, Sigurbjörn Sigurbjörnsson, for his work for SL Pension Fund and its members. The fund has grown and prospered under Sigurbjörn’s management, and assets have multiplied, while the fund has delivered returns that are among the best in Icelandic pension funds.
