After four months as acting head of the position, Johannes Bill Ladegaard now takes up the position of CIO of Pædagogernes Pension. He will be responsible for continuing the investment strategy in the pedagogues’ own pension company with 130,000 members and assets of around DKK 110 billion.
Johannes Bill Ladegaard has been part of Pædagogernes Pension since 2013 and has held key roles within risk management and investment – most recently as head of alternative investments. He thus takes over the CIO position with in-depth knowledge of both the portfolio, risk management and the company’s investment DNA.
CEO of Pædagogernes Pension, Sune Schackenfeldt, sees the appointment as a strengthening of the organization:
“Johannes’ solid risk background and deep understanding of Pædagogernes Pension’s investment DNA have contributed to a disciplined and responsible approach to investments with a focus on long-term value creation. At the same time, Johannes is a very well-liked and respected leader and colleague who creates trust and commitment around him. With Johannes as the new CIO, Pædagogernes Pension ensures both continuity, strong professionalism and broad support in the organization.”
The appointment comes at a time when Pædagogernes Pension is strongly positioned in the pension industry. In 2025, the company delivered a return of 12.5% for members under 56 years of age, which placed Pædagogernes Pension at the very top of the industry. The company has also delivered the best return for the same member group over 3-, 7- and 10-year periods.
According to Johannes Bill Ladegaard, the task as CIO is first and foremost to maintain a strategy that has already proven its worth:
“The foundation is strong and built on the hard work of many talented colleagues, and the direction is clear. When the strategy delivers competitive results over time, continuity is a clear strength. My job is to ensure that we continue the discipline that has created the results we see today,” he says.
He also points out that the work of the Pædagogernes Pension extends beyond the financial markets and has a special meaning:
“Everything we do at the Pædagogernes Pension is based on the pedagogues. I also meet them in my own everyday life as a parent of two small children – and with a third on the way – and I can see how much commitment and responsibility the pedagogues take for the well-being of children every single day. It makes it very clear who we work for and why what we do matters.”
With Johannes Bill Ladegaard as the new CIO, Pædagogernes Pension is thus well equipped to continue an investment strategy that has both delivered strong results and created security for members in the long term.
