Velliv Commited to Green Investments for Long Term

Leadership Evolution and Investment Strategy Refinement

Velliv initiated a process in late 2024 to appoint a new Investment Director, aiming to ensure competitive returns for customers. Lea Vaisalo is set to assume the role of Investment Director and join Velliv’s executive management on May 1, 2025 (Årsrapport 2024, page 4, “Nye kræfter i Vellivs direktion”). This appointment signals a strategic focus on investment performance and potentially new approaches to asset allocation and manager selection.

Modernizing Investment Products for Sustainable Impact

Velliv has significantly modernized its VækstPension Aftryk product, which now includes four distinct investment categories: “Frontløbere” (pioneers in sustainable solutions), “Omstillere” (companies transitioning to sustainability), “Katalysatorer” (enablers of sustainable development), and “ESG–ledere” (top ESG performers) (Årsrapport 2024, page 22, “Modernisering af VækstPension Aftryk”). This product aims to deliver attractive financial returns while contributing to sustainable change. This indicates a strong and evolving commitment to sustainable investing, creating opportunities for asset managers with specialized ESG-focused strategies.

Strategic Climate Goals and Portfolio Decarbonization

Velliv has set ambitious climate targets, including a goal for 20% of its assets to be invested in the green transition by 2030 and a CO2e-neutral investment portfolio by 2050 (Årsrapport 2024, page 45, “Hensyn til klimaet spiller en vigtig rolle”). The CO2e footprint of Velliv’s listed equities, corporate bonds, and real estate portfolio decreased by 48% from 2019 to the end of 2024 (Årsrapport 2024, page 45, “Hensyn til klimaet spiller en vigtig rolle”). This commitment to decarbonization and green investments highlights a clear preference for managers who can demonstrate alignment with these objectives.

Refining Investment Strategy for Enhanced Returns and Diversification

Velliv is adapting its investment strategy for the actively managed VækstPension Aktiv product to achieve attractive returns. The new strategy incorporates elements from VækstPension Index, known for its high historical returns, to build a robust and cost-effective investment core. This core will be supplemented with alternative investments such as real estate, unlisted equities, credit, and forestry and infrastructure, aiming for greater risk diversification and additional sources of return (Årsrapport 2024, page 43, “Ny investeringsstrategi”). This indicates a continued appetite for alternative investments and a focus on strategies that can enhance risk-adjusted returns.

New Manager Appointments

Lea Vaisalo will join Velliv as Investment Director and a member of Velliv’s executive management on May 1, 2025 (Årsrapport 2024, page 4, “Nye kræfter i Vellivs direktion”).

Thor Schultz Christensen was appointed as Investment Director (not a member of the executive management) on November 20, 2024, following Anders Stensbøl Christiansen’s departure from the executive management (Årsrapport 2024, page 166, “Direktionsmedlemmer”).
