Schroders enhances client-led sustainability focus with appointment of Willem Schramade

3 November 2022

Schroders today announces the appointment of Willem Schramade as Head of Sustainability Client Advisory, further supporting our focus on helping clients navigate the evolving sustainable investment landscape.

In this newly-created role, Willem will have a global remit and report into Gavin Ralston, Head of Schroders Strategic Client Group. He will work closely with Schroders’ sustainable investment team and regional specialists and be focused on extending the strategic sustainability support provided for key clients.

Willem boasts extensive industry experience, having spent most of his career in asset management initially at Robeco where he held several roles focused on sustainability, before joining NN Investment Partners where he was an impact investing portfolio manager and, most recently, a sustainable finance consultant.

Willem also spent several years as an academic at Erasmus University in Rotterdam where he received a PhD in Corporate Finance, and is the co-author of several books focused on sustainable finance.

Gavin Ralston, Head of Strategic Client Group at Schroders, said:

“Willem will be focused on supporting our clients and client-facing teams navigate the sustainable investment landscape. He is exceptionally well placed to do so, having built up two decades of industry experience working on sustainability, valuation and impact investing as an academic, an asset management specialist and as a consultant.

“With ESG issues of increasing importance to investors, ensuring we have the right expertise across the business is critical when it comes to strengthening our position as trusted advisers to clients. We have made significant strides in establishing our sustainability credentials, but the bar is rising and we are committed to broadening and deepening our sustainable investment value proposition.”
