London CIV Appoints head of private markets

The London CIV (“LCIV”) has appointed Vanessa Shia as Head of Private Markets. The new role will focus on delivering various fund launches in private markets and working with London CIV’s appointed Advisors to support the development of a quality portfolio for the London Local Authority Pension Funds. Vanessa started in the role on Monday 9 November 2020.

Vanessa brings with her 14 years of industry experience, covering primary, secondary, and co-investment opportunities across the private markets spectrum, including private credit, infrastructure, real estate, private equity, and hedge funds. In her previous roles, Vanessa has gained extensive experience in investment sourcing, manager selection, and investment and operational due diligence. She has also focused on responsible investment and ESG and the importance of integrating these into investment management platforms and support functions.

On her appointment, Vanessa said, “I am delighted to have joined the London CIV. I have already been warmly welcomed by my new colleagues, albeit virtually, and look forward to working with the team to deliver fund launches in the private market space and additionally, working alongside Jacqueline Jackson to develop our overall ESG framework and integrating it into our investment selection process”.
