AkademikerPension: VW’s lobbying needs a gear shift

11 April 2022

The car giant VW is lagging behind its competitors when it comes to openness and transparency around lobbying activities in the climate field.

And after three years of dialogue, investors are now using tougher funds.

Therefore, AkademikerPension, together with a number of other investors, will now pressure the German car giant to report annually on how the company’s lobbyists work to achieve its official climate goals.

This is done through a shareholder proposal, which will be presented at the company’s general meeting on 29 April.

“We need the world’s largest companies to be open about how they work to live up to the Paris Agreement – also when it comes to lobbying around the regulation of their industries. And a giant like VW will have to show that the company’s lobbying work is also in line with the company’s support for the Paris agreement, ”says director of AkademikerPension, Jens Munch Holst.
