Van Lanschot Kempen and the shareholders of Mercier Vanderlinden have completed the accelerated acquisition of the remaining 30% interest in Mercier Vanderlinden by Van Lanschot Kempen. As of 1 January 2024, the combination of Van Lanschot Belgium and Mercier Vanderlinden will continue under the name Mercier Van Lanschot.
For the 30% interest, Van Lanschot Kempen paid 53% in cash and 47% in shares with a lock-up until 2030. With this, the managing partners of Mercier Vanderlinden acquired a 3.9% interest in Van Lanschot Kempen, a confirmation of their commitment and confidence in the power of the combination. 1,678,270 new shares have been issued for this purpose.
After completion of this transaction, Van Lanschot Kempen will be 100% shareholder of the Belgian wealth manager, following the earlier acquisition of a 70% interest in 2021.
The combination of Mercier Vanderlinden and Van Lanschot Belgium had € 9.2 billion in assets under management (AuM) at the end of 2022. The combination is experiencing strong growth: in 2022 the combined net inflow in AuM amounted to € 0.7 billion (of which € 0.3 billion at Mercier Vanderlinden and € 0.4 billion at Van Lanschot Belgium).
The combination will continue in the course of 2023 with one management team, with Thomas Vanderlinden and Erwin Schoeters as co-CEOs, Frédéric Van Doosselaere and Paul Timmermans. Stéphane Mercier remains responsible for the management of the MercLin funds.
