AXA helps reduce healthcare costs through pharmacy cooperation

AXA continues to actively contribute to reducing healthcare costs and is now covering costs for healthcare consultations in pharmacies. To do this, it is entering into a cooperation with Galenica, the largest network in the Swiss healthcare market. Galenica owns around 370 pharmacies throughout Switzerland, including Amavita, Coop Vitality and Sun Store.

Going to the doctor is often disproportionate for common, less serious complaints. Sometimes, because medications such as cough syrups containing codeine or antibiotic eye drops require a prescription – for good reasons – family doctor’s practices, permanent clinics and emergency rooms sometimes fill beyond their capacity limits. “For common and clearly defined complaints, advice from a pharmacist would often be sufficient,” says Niklas Elser, Head of Private Provision and Health Care at AXA Switzerland. AXA now covers the costs of such health consultations in the pharmacy as part of its supplementary outpatient insurance (ACTIF, PLUS and COMPLET) and is entering into a cooperation with Galenica, the largest network in the Swiss healthcare market. In doing so, it makes a further active contribution to relieving the burden on the healthcare system. The Galenica network includes around 370 pharmacies throughout Switzerland – including the brands Amavita, Coop Vitality and Sun Store.
