Lombard Odier Investment Managers bolsters 1798 Alternatives with new team

Lombard Odier Investment Managers (“LOIM”) today announces the appointments of Valentin Petrescou and Didier Anthamatten to launch a Global Macro Absolute Return strategy for institutional and private clients, due to go live in Q3.

Valentin and Didier are joined by their former team members, Jeremy Gatto, Philipp Mueller and Max Witschel, all transitioning to LOIM from Credit Suisse, collectively bringing over 75 years of combined experience spanning all asset classes, with extensive knowledge in derivatives.

The team formerly managed the Hedging the Cycle and Multi Asset Premia investment strategies at Credit Suisse Wealth Management, which boasted a track record of over four years and peaked at $1.8 billion AUM. The upcoming UCITS investment vehicle, built upon the synergies of these two strategies, is designed to provide clients with highly liquid diversified exposure across asset classes, aiming to generate robust returns in all market environments.

Jean-Pascal Porcherot, Co-Head of LOIM and Managing Partner, Lombard Odier said:
“At LOIM, we continue to invest in industry-leading talent and investment expertise to help our clients manage the risks and opportunities that arise across market cycles. With Valentin, Didier and the team, 1798 will benefit from their extensive expertise managing multi-asset macro strategies that target absolute returns. This is an important milestone in strengthening LOIM’s alternatives business, as we expand our range of differentiated strategies that seek to generate sustainable alpha for clients.”

Prior to joining Credit Suisse in 2019, Valentin spent nine years at UBS, where he managed the Short-Term Rates Trading business globally. Beforehand, Valentin held senior proprietary trading roles in major investment banks, generating revenues and alpha through disciplined risk taking.

Didier spent four years at Credit Suisse, and previously worked at Unigestion, where he managed over $2bn assets through various multi-asset fund and mandate vehicles. Prior to that, Didier was Head of Equity Derivatives at Pictet, where he expanded the proprietary trading and market making business across the volatility space. Didier started his career in the equity derivatives trading unit at Deutsche Bank.

The team brings in-depth expertise managing multi-asset macro strategies, with a robust approach for portfolio construction and risk management. The portfolio managers are based in Geneva and Zurich and report to Christophe Khaw, CIO of 1798 Alternatives. They started at LOIM on 2 April.
