The BVK board is reorganized

On June 1, 2023, Axel Uttenreuther will become the new CEO of the Bayerischen Versorgungskammer. He succeeds Daniel Just, who is retiring at the end of May 2023 after more than 10 years in this position. At the same time, Christine Draws becomes the first woman to become a member of the board. A festive ceremony took place on May 17, 2023 in the Munich Residence.
On May 17, 2023, around 220 invited guests came together in the Max-Joseph-Saal of the Munich Residence for a festive ceremony: After more than 10 years as Chairman of the Board of Management of the Bayerischen Versorgungskammer (BVK), Daniel Just retired. He started at BVK in 1998 as Head of Finance and has been a member of the Executive Board since 2001. One of his most important achievements is the restructuring of BVK’s capital investment towards a global, broadly diversified and strategic orientation, including the master fund concept and asset liability management. In his more than 25 years of service, Daniel Just has made a decisive contribution to the success of BVK. He will hand over the chairmanship of the Executive Board to Axel Uttenreuther on June 1, 2023, who has extensive experience and knowledge of the entire house thanks to his many years of work at BVK – most recently as a member of the board of directors for Bavarian medical care, mathematics and information processing. It began in 1993 in what was then the Bayerische Versicherungskammer, which was split into the Versicherungskammer Bayern and the Bayerische Versorgungskammer in 1995. In particular, Axel Uttenreuther would like to further advance digitization in order to meet the changing requirements of the insured and members in the best possible way. At the same time, it stands for continuity in today’s challenging and fast-moving times. His successor is Christine Draws, the first woman on the board. She will also be responsible for IT while continuing to drive innovation and process optimization.
In his speech, Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann paid tribute to Daniel Just’s many years of merit and success, was pleased about the inauguration of Axel Uttenreuther as his successor and the appointment of Christine Draws as a member of the Board of Management. He summed it up: “Mr. Just made a significant contribution to the successful growth of the Bavarian supply chamber and to the fact that it has developed into a sustainable and successful employer. But I also know that the pension fund is in the best hands with Mr. Uttenreuther, because as a member of the Executive Board he has long been familiar with the challenges ahead.”
dr Lothar Wittek, Chairman of the Chamber Council of the Bavarian Supply Chamber, emphasized in his speech: “BVK is future-proof and well positioned, thanks to its sustainable corporate management, its diversified investment strategy and the already advanced digital development.” He is convinced that Axel Uttenreuther as a competent successor will continue the success story that BVK was able to experience under Daniel Just.
