Union Investment appoints Henrik Pontzen as Chief Sustainability Officer

Dr. Henrik Pontzen (44) will hold the newly created position of Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) from April 1, 2024. In his new role, he reports to the CEO of the Union Investment Group, Hans Joachim Reinke. At the same time, Pontzen will remain ESG head of portfolio management, where he will report directly to the head of portfolio management, Carola Schroeder.
Pontzen has been working as Head of ESG in portfolio management at Union Investment since January 1, 2019, where he and a team of 19 are responsible for the sustainability strategy for the portfolio management investment process.
“The creation of the new position of CSO is the consistent strategic development and enhancement of the topic of sustainability in the Union Investment Group. “Sustainability is not only an important sales issue, but also a question of attitude that permeates the entire company,” says Reinke. In the future, Pontzen will not only be responsible for the sustainability strategy of portfolio management, but of the entire company. “We are pleased that Henrik Pontzen has agreed to take the lead on the entire issue of sustainability in our company,” explains Reinke.
