Vincenzo Vedda becomes Global Chief Investment Officer of DWS

The DWS Group announced today that it will combine the Portfolio Management, Chief Investment Office and Economic Research divisions under the leadership of Vincenzo Vedda. Vedda, who is currently Global Head of Portfolio Management – Public Markets and is responsible for the Group’s entire liquid portfolio management, will also take on the role of Global Chief Investment Officer (CIO). He will continue to report to CEO Stefan Hoops. Björn Jesch, the previous Global CIO of DWS, has decided to leave the company by mutual agreement. Johannes Müller, previously Head of Economic and Thought Leadership Research, will become the Group’s Chief Economist. He will report to Vincenzo Vedda.

“The merger of the Chief Investment Office with the global management of our portfolio management is a logical step to make even better use of our investment expertise for our customers,” said Stefan Hoops, CEO of DWS and member of the management board responsible for the Investment Division. “With Vincenzo Vedda, an experienced capital market expert is taking on this role, who has both broad experience in managing our portfolio management and knows our customers’ needs very well. At the same time, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Björn Jesch, who is a customer-oriented expert and explainer of the international capital markets and a great colleague. We wish him all the best for his professional and private future.”

Vincenzo Vedda has been with DWS since 2013 and initially had co-responsibility for Global Equities Trading, then took over as head of global trading at DWS in 2017. After being responsible for DWS’s European client business (ex-Germany and Austria) and global wholesale business from 2020, he initially became Head of Active Portfolio Management at DWS at the end of 2022 and also took over responsibility for passive portfolio management in 2023.

Björn Jesch initially joined DWS in 2020 as Head of Multi Asset & Solutions. At the end of 2022, he took on the role of Global Chief Investment Officer. Jesch is also stepping down from his position as CEO of DWS CH AG, based in Zurich. A successor for this role will be announced shortly.
