The board of P+, Pensionskassen for Akademikere has hired current investment director Kåre Hahn Michelsen as the new managing director. He joins the executive board on 1 June and takes over the post from Søren Kolbye Sørensen at the end of September.
It will be the current director of investment in P+, Kåre Hahn Michelsen, who will take over the post of managing director of the pension fund when Søren Kolbye Sørensen retires in a few months.
Kåre Hahn Michelsen is already fit & proper approved by the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority. He joins the executive board on 1 June and replaces Søren Kolbye Sørensen as managing director at the end of September.
“In this way, we ensure that during a transition period Kåre will have the opportunity to draw on Søren’s many years of experience before he takes over himself,” says board chairman Kim Duus.
Investment Director Kåre Hahn Michelsen is looking forward to the new role.
“I’ve been head of the investment department for just over three years, and now I’m looking forward to also being in charge of the rest of the talented employees. P+ is an exciting company that has made a lot of progress in recent years. Right now we are i.a. in the process of offering members a new and more up-to-date savings product and strengthening the digital dialogue,” he says.
Kim Duus explains that the board of P+ has had an external recruitment consultant tasked with finding a new managing director for P+. In that process, Kåre Hahn Michelsen has been one of several candidates for the position and on an equal footing with the others in the process.
“The choice has fallen on Kåre because he is the best candidate for the job. He has many years of management experience, extensive knowledge of asset management, deep insight into the financial markets and the mechanisms behind the operation of a pension fund. The fact that he already knows P+’s business model and organization from the inside is of course also an advantage,” says Kim Duus.
Kåre Hahn Michelsen has been employed as investment director at P+ since March 2020. He joined P+ after a number of years as deputy director at Danske Bank Asset Management, where during the period he was responsible for managing investments within all asset classes.
“There is a special responsibility in running a member-owned organisation, where we must be able to find a balance in the views of our more than 110,000 members. This applies both when it comes to the investment strategy and the products we offer. I am looking forward to taking responsibility for that task to an even greater extent,” he says.
