The former Danish Riksbank governor Lars Rohde (b. 1954) is proposed by Alecta’s committee (nomination committee) to be elected as the new chairman of the board of Alecta at an extra board meeting in February.
Lars Rohde was during the period 2013 – 2023 head of the Danish Riksbank and has previously been CEO of the Danish pension company ATP 1998-2013,
– Lars Rohde, with his background as head of the Riksbank for ten years and CEO of the pension company ATP for fifteen years, has a unique background and experience to now lead Alecta’s board, says Beredningsnämnden chairman Kenneth Bengtsson. Lars Rohde has the confident personality and deep experience that Alecta now needs to continue restoring trust. Lars Rohde has not worked in Sweden before and that is something new for a chairman of the board of Alecta. His competence, experience and personality are of such a caliber that we feel safe with this proposal, says Kenneth Bengtsson.
Lars Rohde says in a comment:
– Alecta is one of Europe’s largest pension companies with an impressive history and a unique role in the Swedish, party-based security system. At the same time, Alecta is on its way out of a serious crisis, which damaged brand and trust. I have seen that Alecta’s board and new management have taken important and necessary steps to address this. If I am elected, my main task will be to contribute to Alecta’s recovery and support the management in this work.
The preparatory committee calls an extra board meeting on February 6 to elect a new board chairman. The regular Board of Directors meeting is now on April 25. The preparatory committee’s proposal is subject to customary review by the Financial Supervisory Authority.
