After seven years on the board, Tobias Bornakke has been elected as the new chairman of AkademikerPension. This is the result of Thursday’s board meeting, where the board constituted itself. The new vice chairman is Henrik Priergaard.
The new constellation is a result of Janne Gleerup’s election as chairwoman of the Danish Football League, which has meant that she has chosen to step down as chairwoman of AkademikerPension’s board, where she has had Tobias Bornakke as vice chairwoman for the past three years.
And it is precisely these three years that have made 39-year-old Tobias Bornakke ready to take the next step to chairman.
“I would like to thank Janne Gleerup for a good and close collaboration, where together with the rest of the board of directors we have brought AkademikerPension into a position as a well-run pension fund and a frontrunner on the responsible agenda.”
Focus on returns, accountability and member democracy.
Yet the change to chairman is taking place with work gloves on.
“AkademikerPension is in a really good place, but we are also looking into an unpredictable time where many of the values we operate by are under tremendous pressure. Here I am thinking in particular of the green transition, where it is more important than ever that there is financial muscle that refuses to compromise on the fact that returns and responsibility can easily go hand in hand,” says the newly elected chairman.
As an expert in digital democracy, a member of the board of the Danish Consumer Council Think and future principal at Grundtvigs Højskole, engagement and member democracy are also very close to his heart – especially getting more young people to participate in the democratic conversation.
That is why he also has a strong focus on getting even more members of AkademikerPension to get involved in the pension fund and their pension as a whole.
“As a member-owned pension fund, we need the input of our members so that we are always relevant in the offers we have for them. This applies to our products, insurance and healthcare offers, and we will therefore, among other things, invite you to more webinars in 2025. I will have a strong focus on that,” says Tobias Bornakke.
Looking forward to close collaboration
CEO, Jens Munch Holst, has worked with Tobias Bornakke on the board for the past seven years and with Henrik Priergaard for the past three and looks forward to even closer collaboration.
“Recent years have brought about, among other things, a new core system, AlfaPension, and a new responsible health scheme, and I am certain that with Tobias’ enormous experience, commitment and wealth of ideas in combination with Henrik’s strong skills from the financial world, we will have a highly competent partnership for the benefit of the members,” he says.
