PKA sells British offshore wind farm

3 November 2021

At the beginning of 2016, PKA invested DKK 3.3 billion in the offshore wind farm Burbo Bank Extension in the United Kingdom. PKA is now selling its share of the park to Greencoat with a significant gain for the benefit of pension fund members.

PKA is selling its 25% stake in the UK offshore wind farm Burbo Bank Extension to asset manager Greencoat. Behind the park, which was completed in 2017, are also Ørsted, which owns 50% of the park, and KIRKBI, which owns 25%.

The sale pleases Jon Johnsen, CEO of PKA.

“When we invest in green infrastructure, we do so as a starting point with a long-term time horizon of between 25 to 30 years. Therefore, it is also rare that we sell after only six years. But in this case, we have received an offer that gives a favorable return to our members. That is why we have chosen to say yes, ”says Jon Johnsen, and adds:

“We have been happy with the couple race with Ørsted and KIRKBI, who share our values and focus on the sustainable area and the collaboration around Burbo has been really good. Overall, this is an attractive partnership model for PKA for the benefit of our members. ”
