Aptia aquires Mercer’s UK pension administration business

12 January 2024

BAE Systems publishes on its website:

Last summer it was announced that Mercer had entered into an agreement for Aptia, a new dedicated pension and benefits administration provider, to acquire Mercer’s UK pension administration business.

The process has now concluded and Aptia formally acquired the pension administration services, which Mercer currently provides for its clients, including the BAE Systems’ UK Defined Benefit pension schemes listed below:

  • BAE Systems Pension Scheme (Levels 125, 167, 187 and 200 Benefits; Aircrew pre 2003 joiners Benefits; Level 100+ Benefits; Passport Benefits; Alvis Benefits, 2000 Plan Benefits and SIPS Benefits)
  • BAE Systems Executive Pension Scheme (Main Edition and 2006 Edition)
  • Royal Ordnance Pension Scheme (1984 Section, BMARC Section and Crown Section)
  • Royal Ordnance Senior Staff Pensions Scheme

The agreement includes the transfer of personnel so the teams currently providing the administration service to BAE Systems’ UK Defined Benefits pension schemes are unchanged.

Over the next two years Mercer will continue to support Aptia, who will also continue to use existing technology and systems to provide continuity for scheme members. The Trustees are comfortable with these arrangements and shared this news with members in their November Annual Review Newsletter, which can be accesed via the secure member website, OneView.
