Daniel McHugh has been appointed Chief Investment Officer at Aviva Investors, taking on a new expanded role from his previous position as CIO, Real Assets. The appointment follows the departure of Liquid Markets CIO Colin Purdie to pursue a new opportunity.
Daniel has more than 25 years’ experience in the investment industry. He joined Aviva Investors in 2018 as managing director, real estate, where he was responsible for business strategy, product initiatives, and external engagement across Aviva Investors’ real estate business and was appointed CIO, Real Assets, in February 2021. Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Daniel held the role of head of continental European real estate investment at Standard Life Investments, where he was instrumental in repositioning and significantly growing the business in the region since 2008.
Mark Versey, Chief Executive, Aviva Investors, said: “Since his appointment as CIO of Real Assets in early 2021, Danny has overseen a significant increase in revenues and strong client inflows. Danny is a strong and highly capable investment leader, with a clear commercial and client focus. Those qualities are as applicable to Liquid Markets as they are to Real Assets and we are confident both businesses will go from strength to strength under his leadership.”
