Brightwell has gone live as the administrator for the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme (MPS) and has successfully completed its first pensioner payroll run following a transition taking just over 11 months.
MPS is one of the largest defined benefit pension schemes in the UK with c.6,000 deferred members and 110,000 pensioners in payment. Each year it pays out c.£700m to former mineworkers and their beneficiaries.
Brightwell is providing a complete pension administration service to MPS. This includes handling of all member processes and contact from Brightwell’s award-winning administration centre based in Chesterfield.
At Brightwell, all member calls go directly through to qualified pension administrators who have undertaken extensive training to provide members with professional, first-time resolution to their queries.
For MPS members that prefer to manage their pension online, Brightwell has launched a new personalised online portal. Using the portal, members who are yet to retire can model their retirement options and put their pension into payment using a fully automated online retirements service. Pensioners can use the portal to update their personal details quicky and easily and access their payslips.
To ensure that continuous improvement initiatives are focussed on what members actually need, Brightwell has also introduced a comprehensive programme of member feedback.
The new administration platform and portal are hosted on Procentia’s IntelliPen system and provide Coal Pension Trustees (CPT) with live dashboards showing operational performance and member feedback allowing Brightwell and CPT to work in true partnership with complete transparency.
Morten Nilsson, CEO, Brightwell, said: “The Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme shares our passion for high-quality administration, and we are delighted to partner with them.
“We achieved this transition in a short space of time thanks to the collective effort and effective collaboration between all parties.
“We look forward to sharing our technology, insights and experience to deliver an outstanding service to MPS members for the lifetime of the scheme.”
Andy Gibbons, Scheme Secretary, Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme said: “Brightwell exceeded our expectations, delivering what they promised, when they promised, and going live earlier than originally planned.
“We are already receiving very positive feedback from members, and we are confident that Brightwell will continue to deliver high levels of service for years to come.”
Philip Dickinson, Co-Founder, of Cosan Consulting that provided both supplier selection and transition oversight services to CPT said: “This was one of the most thorough and best managed transitions we have seen. It was open, collaborative and inclusive throughout, and the quality and accuracy of the data and governance reporting was second to none.”
