Global real estate advisor, CBRE, has appointed Mason Gillard-Ellis as a Senior Director in its UK & European Living team, specialising in Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) portfolio Capital Markets. He will work closely with Oli Buckland, Head of PBSA Investment in the UK and will report into Andrew Saunderson, Head of UK Residential Capital Markets.
In his new role, Mason will be responsible for the origination and execution of pan-European portfolio sales and acquisitions in the PBSA sector as well as driving greater synergies across CBRE’s Capital Markets teams, including investment, Real Estate Investment Banking and Equity Placement, with respect to Living assets.
Mason joins from JLL where he has been a Director and a member of its Capital Markets team since 2018, focused on Living sector transactions across the UK and Continental Europe. He has worked on some of the largest deals in the PBSA sector including the acquisition of Student Roost, the UK’s third largest PBSA platform which comprised of over 23,000 operational beds at the time, providing M&A and real estate advisory services to GIC and Greystar, as well as the disposal of over 3,500 beds for Harrison Street across separate UK PBSA portfolio transactions. As well as prior experience working in Deloitte’s Corporate Finance team based in Chile, Mason is also a CFA Charterholder.
