The Church of England Pensions Board’s Laura Hillis, Director of Climate and Environment, has been elected to the board of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC).
“It is an honour to join the board of the IIGCC, an organisation I have long admired for its work addressing the climate crisis with its investor members,” said Laura Hillis. “I will do my best to support the IIGCC as it continues to deliver the important work needed for investors to manage ever-increasing climate risks – and benefit from the opportunities that come with the transition to net zero.”
The IIGCC is a group of global institutional investors dedicated to bringing together the investment community to deliver net zero and a climate-resilient future. Its board is drawn from asset owner and asset manager representatives.
This year has seen several achievements for the IIGCC, including the launch of the Net Zero Investment Framework 2.0 at London Climate Action Week, the addition of 61 companies to the Net Zero Engagement Initiative, and engagement in the lead up to and throughout COP29 in Baku.
Laura Hillis has been a leading voice in the promotion of sustainable investment practices throughout the year. In October, she helped bring together a global coalition of investors worth a combined USD 2.5 trillion at COP16 in Colombia, calling on governments to take ambitious policy and regulatory action on biodiversity loss.
Laura is a sustainable finance expert with more than fifteen years of experience working in financial institutions, focused on climate and environmental issues. Laura currently oversees stewardship, climate and biodiversity initiatives for the Church of England Pensions Board, a £3.2 billion pension fund which is a leader in ethical and responsible investment.
