Jo Donnelly appointed LPFA CEO

The London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA), a Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Administering Authority and £8 billion LGPS Fund with around 100,000 members, has appointed Jo Donnelly as Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Donnelly starts her role with the LPFA in April 2025 and comes from the Local Government Association (LGA) where she has spent four years; firstly as Senior Pensions Secretary and, since April 2022, as Head of Pensions. She is also Secretary to the LGPS Scheme Advisory Board (SAB). Prior to her time at the LGA, Ms.. Donnelly held pensions policy roles at HM Treasury and the Department of Health and Social Care. She began her public sector career at the Home Office in 2002. She graduated from Lancaster University with a BSc in International Business and has a Master’s in International Law & World Order from Reading University.

According to John Preston, LPFA Chair, “We are delighted that Jo is joining the LPFA. During her time at the LGA, she has effectively and capably represented the views of local authorities to government on a wide variety of LGPS issues. Her reputation as a strong advocate for the LGPS and the work that our industry delivers on behalf of LGPS members and employers is well deserved. The UK pensions market is complex and ever-changing and we are pleased that the LPFA has such an experienced leader in place to help our organization navigate future developments.”. Jo Donnelly said: “I am excited to be joining the LPFA at what is a particularly busy and interesting time for the LGPS. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team at the LPFA, and to working with the sector as we navigate the months and years ahead – building on established relationships and continuing to deliver for scheme members. It’s been a privilege to lead the LGA’s pensions team for the last few years, and I’d like to thank the team for all their efforts and hard work during that time.”
