The People’s Pension has published its Statement of Investment Principles for year end April 2025. The document confirms the Scheme is actively researching new asset classes as part of its long-term investment strategy.
In April 2025, The People’s Pension began building research capability in private markets. The Scheme’s investment adviser, People’s Investment Ltd. (PIL), is developing internal expertise in this area with the intention of allocating some members’ assets to private markets, subject to Trustee approval and the identification of suitable opportunities. The rationale behind this research is to diversify the portfolio and potentially enhance returns through access to alternative investments. (Statement of Investment Principles, page 6)
In addition, the Scheme has signaled that themed investment is under active consideration as a short- to medium-term opportunity. While details remain limited, this indicates a forward-looking approach to integrating ESG or sector-specific strategies into the investment mix (Statement of Investment Principles, page 29).
