The Sampension community invests in wind turbines and solar cells

The Sampension community has entered into a partnership with NRGi for the energy group’s business activities within renewable energy. The agreement strengthens the business and capital base to develop, establish, operate wind turbine and solar cell projects and accelerate the necessary conversion of the energy system, the parties state.

The Sampension community, which consists of Sampension, Arkitekternes Pensionskasse, Pensionskassen for Jordbrugsakademikere & Dyrlæger and ISP, has just entered into a partnership agreement with the NRGi Group. With the agreement, the Sampension community will take over 49 per cent. of the shares in NRGi’s wind turbine and solar cell projects for a triple-digit million amount. An agreement that significantly strengthens the basis for investing in, operating and developing new renewable energy projects.

“With the investment, we have found a competent partner who can help ensure a long-term and climate-friendly business. We look forward to a collaboration that mutually strengthens the opportunities to drive part of the necessary transformation, ”says Hasse Jørgensen, CEO of Sampension.

With the agreement, the pension company invests in becoming co-owners of NRGi Renewables. NRGi Renewables currently owns and operates 22 wind turbines in Jutland as well as a solar park, and can produce electricity for what corresponds to the annual consumption of 78,000 households.

“We have a clear ambition to play an active role in the green transition. In this connection, we are pleased to welcome Sampension as the new co-owner of our current and future renewable energy projects. Sampension is a solid organization with strong societal ambitions that match our own. I am sure that together we can lift the ambitions and work towards a greener future to new heights “, states Jacob Vittrup, CEO of NRGi.

The agreement makes it possible to intensify the focus on the business and the green transition. The agreement must now be approved by the competition authorities.

“We are well on our way to executing the ambitions and have recently commissioned our newest wind farm at Thisted. But we continue the work of establishing new renewable energy projects. And with the agreement here, there will be increased opportunities and forces to invest in the necessary restructuring of our energy system for the benefit of us all “, concludes Jacob Vittrup.
